It's delicious. Need I say more? The definitive guide to tacos in LA.
Fun and informative. It makes me want to head to LA and go on my own taco crawl.
This book made me hungry and ready for a taco crawl. I've eaten tacos all over LA, but Gokee has found many places I'm ready to sample. He knows his tacos and knows his town.
Reading Rob Gokee's book, Tacocity, was like taking a trip back through the parts of Southern California I grew up in. Having spent the past 10+ years in Arizona there is a lot I miss about being back home in California. Fortunately, Rob Gokee has managed to bring back that nostalgia in the form of a perfectly written and laid out book. I managed to read the entire book in a matter of hours and the only challenge I encountered was constantly fighting the urge to run out for a run to grab some Tacos.
I can't wait to try out some of the recipes that are included in the book as well. The fact that he included those is just the "salsa on the taco" because the book alone was well worth the price of admission to be taken on this incredible tour.
If you consider yourself a foodie or better yet a Tacophile, then this book is a must read. I hope to organize an annual event or challenge to see who, besides, Rob Gokee, can visit the most, if not every, location in the book within a two week span. The only thing that could've made this book better was it if it were written on actual tortillas and completely edible.
It's finally here! For those of you who yearn to bounce around Los Angeles and visit Taco Trucks, Restaurants and Stands eating all the deliciousness that there is to offer... this book will help you do so. It's the ultimate taco crawl guide and trust me - you will be hungry flipping through the pages. Rob shares his favorite taco at each place, where you can find vegan and vegetarian options, where you can find not only traditional tacos but also hipster and gourmet spins on the taco, and tips and tricks about parking, seating, cash/credit and just about anything that is a must-know. He also shares ten recipes including one of my favorite to eat green chile stew! I can't recommend this book enough for LA residents and LA visitors alike. Or for those of you who dream of visiting, this will make it impossible not to book a trip here immediately. Happy taco-ing!
